Bathroom Restauration

Shower and Bedroom restauration after shower leaking

The client had a new shower installed that started leaking after 6 months. The original contractor took no responsibility and it became and insurance matter. The original shower was installed without the proper slope of the threshold, seat and shelf causing water leaking out on the bathroom floor and water accumulation on seat and shelf.

The insurance company sent a mitigation team that removed some of the tile and drywall in the bedroom to dry it out.

Per's Repairs Construction and Design convinced the client that the best way to install the new shower was to go with Schluter's Kerdi system and epoxy grout. This provides two layers of leak protection ensuring the expected performance of the shower.

Per's Repairs started to remove the tile and old drywall to be able to put up the Kerdi boards. The shower floor was leveled to ensure propoer draininage. After the Kerdi system was installed a leak test was performed to ensure that there was no leak.

The client selected a grey tile for the shower which was installed over the Kerdi board. After the epoxy grout was applied and the shower glass and door were re-installed the shower matched the expectations of the client.

The bedroom drywall was reinstalled, textured (knock down texture) and painted to match the rest of the bedroom. Some new trim was installed and the door trim was painted to make everything look fresh and complete.

As an extra bonus some new hooks and hardware was put up for towels and bathrobes.
